Start with the cover format on the product page. A stretch slipcover, draped throw and separate seat or back pieces need different measurements. Measure the actual area to be covered, including depth, back height and any required drape or tuck. Compare those measurements with the selected variant; do not choose by the sofa’s seater label alone. Use our measuring guide, and ask for help if the dimensions fall between options.

Fit depends on the sofa’s measurements and construction, rather than its brand or where it was bought. Check arm shape, seat depth, back height and cushion layout against the individual product. A familiar two- or three-seater label does not guarantee compatibility.

Some cover formats may suit a leather sofa, but a smooth surface can allow more movement. Check the product’s backing, fitting instructions and compatibility with the sofa maker’s care advice. Use only suitable accessories specified for that cover; foam sticks are not included with every product and no fabric can be promised to grip every leather finish.

We offer chair and recliner cover options. Check the specific shape and measurements before choosing, and make sure the cover does not obstruct a recliner’s moving parts or controls. An armchair cover is not automatically suitable for a tub chair or recliner.

Measure each seat, back and chaise section separately. Check whether the product is a shaped cover or a set of separate pieces, and confirm the layout and pieces included. Do not assume every L-shaped design is reversible or that one set will cover a U-shaped lounge.

Wide, rolled or curved arms can use more fabric and change the way a cover sits. Measure the arms as well as the seat and back. Send the support team the product link, measurements and front and side photos if you need help assessing a suitable format.

The range includes chenille, jacquard, plush and stretch styles, with different constructions across products. Check the individual listing for its stated material, format and care instructions. A collection name does not establish the exact fibre blend, coating or backing of every cover.

Check the individual product details and care label for information relevant to your household. We cannot use a general FAQ to certify every fabric or coating as non-toxic, allergen-free or suitable for a particular sensitivity. If you need a specific material or certification, ask us about the exact product before ordering.

Compare the area you want to cover, the texture you prefer and how you will clean it. Removable pieces can be useful for a favourite seat, while a throw provides a different draped look. If spills are a priority, choose a product specifically described as water resistant and read its limits; that description does not mean a sealed liquid barrier.

Fabric feel and airflow depend on the weave, pile, backing and any coating. Do not assume every cover is equally breathable, or that a water-resistant layer prevents trapped moisture. Follow the product’s care instructions and let the cover and sofa dry fully before refitting.

Our pet-friendly range offers removable coverage for everyday household use. Choose with your pet’s shedding, claws and habits in mind, and check the cleaning instructions. Pet-friendly does not mean claw-proof, chew-proof or accident-proof.

No cover should be treated as claw-proof. A pet can snag or damage fabric, and the result depends on its behaviour and the material. We do not have a published comparison on this page that establishes one fabric as the most scratch resistant.

Fur can collect on a cover, and how easily it releases varies with the fabric and the pet’s hair. Use a cleaning method permitted by the care label. Avoid assuming that a damp cloth or lint tool is suitable for every finish.

Clean up promptly and check whether liquid has reached the sofa underneath. A product described as water resistant may help with light spills when dealt with quickly; it is not a guarantee against urine, prolonged wetting or liquid entering through edges and gaps. Follow the cover’s care label and the sofa’s separate cleaning instructions.

Choose a product explicitly intended for outdoor use. Sofa Decor has an outdoor cover range, alongside indoor throws, seat pieces and slipcovers. Check the selected product’s dimensions, intended exposure and care instructions; an indoor cover is not made suitable for outdoors simply by placing it under a roof.

Water resistance alone does not establish outdoor suitability. Check that the specific product is intended for the setting and exposure you have in mind. The current outdoor listings include guidance for covered settings; do not read that as a guarantee for standing water, prolonged soaking or every weather condition.

Washing instructions vary by product. Machine wash only where the product’s care label permits it, using the stated temperature and cycle. A washable added cover does not make the sofa upholstery or cushion filling underneath washable.

Use a dryer only if the exact cover’s care label permits it, and follow the stated setting. Do not assume low heat is suitable simply because a cover is not water resistant. Let the cover dry fully before putting it back on the sofa.

Base cleaning on the care label and actual use: visible marks, spills, accumulated fur and dust matter more than a fixed calendar. Remove loose debris using an approved method, and avoid repeated washing beyond what the product’s instructions allow.

A cover can move with sitting, pets and the sofa’s surface. Choose the right dimensions, follow that product’s installation instructions and adjust it as needed. Use tucking accessories only where they are suitable for the cover and sofa; do not assume every product includes them or will stay completely still.

Follow the instructions for the chosen cover format. A stretch cover is fitted around the specified sofa section; a throw is arranged with the required drape; separate pieces are matched to individual seats, backs or arms. Smooth and adjust without forcing fabric into moving parts, and check which accessories are actually included.

Some formats can suit removable cushions. Measure the sofa in its normal assembled position for an all-over cover or throw. For separate cushion or seat pieces, also measure each relevant section as directed by that product’s size guide.

Unpack and arrange the cover according to its instructions. If folds remain, check the care label before applying heat, steam or an iron. Ask support if you are unsure; there is no single settling time for every fabric.
